Discover how to take the Marlee Motivational Analysis to better understand yourself and others at work.

In this guide, we'll show you how to take the Marlee Motivational Analysis to gain a greater understanding of yourself and others at work.

The results will help you identify your motivations, ideal work environment, and areas for development.

Set aside 15 to 30 minutes in a quiet place with no distractions.

We recommend retaking the Motivational Analysis every 12 months or after a significant life event, such as starting a new job, getting promoted, or navigating a major career transition.

Taking the Analysis

Before we get started, think about your ideal work environment. Not your current situation, but the environment that motivates and energizes you most. For example, you may work best with plenty of solo space, or you may feel most fulfilled when you are around others and able to talk, brainstorm, and collaborate. Select what feels most fulfilling to you.

1. When you're ready, click Begin.

Alt description: A modal window titled “Let’s start the motivational analysis!” explaining that the questions help Marlee understand a user’s work motivations. It includes preparation tips such as being in a quiet space, having 15–20 uninterrupted minutes, and answering honestly. A language selector set to English appears at the bottom left. A purple “Begin” button at the bottom right is highlighted with a red square, indicating where to click to start the Marlee motivational analysis.

2. There are 40 questions in total. Each question has five options. For each one, you'll drag and drop the options to rank them from most energizing to least energizing for you in the workplace.

When you're ready, click Next to move forward. You can also use the back arrow to revisit and adjust your previous responses at any time.

A modal screen showing “Question 4 of 40” in the Marlee motivational analysis. The instructions ask the user to drag and drop options from most preferred to least preferred, based on their ideal work environment. The question reads, “At work, a person needs to:” followed by draggable options including having a range of options, following proven procedures, knowing their own standards for success, getting feedback, and receiving their money. A language selector set to English appears at the bottom left. A purple “Next” button at the bottom right is highlighted with a red square, indicating where to click to continue to the next question.

3. Every 10 questions, you'll receive a congratulatory message for making progress in the Motivational Analysis. Keep up the good work!

4. Once you have completed the analysis, hit the complete button, and then you'll be prompted to finish the rest of the sign-up flow, which includes Work Culture and Year of Birth.

A modal screen titled “You’ve finished the analysis!” showing a preview of motivational results compared to the Gen Z distribution. Three horizontal charts are displayed for Initiation, Reflection + Patience, and Goals, each with a marker indicating the user’s position. Below the charts, the screen asks for final information to display results correctly, including a Work culture field set to USA and a Year of birth field set to 1998. A note explains that this information is used to standardize motivation models and remains confidential. A purple “Continue” button appears at the bottom right to proceed.
  1. Once you hit continue on this last page you are finished with the motivational analysis process and you will be taken to your Space home page.
  2. Once this is done, I would encourage you to check out Boards to see your Data! :) You can do this by navigating to Boards in the left column and selecting the "My Results" Board
The Marlee home dashboard for a workspace called “Modexa.” The left-hand navigation menu is visible, with the “Boards” option highlighted by a red square. The main panel welcomes the user to Modexa and displays cards for actions such as coaching, completing migration, viewing results, asking about yourself, and comparing with others. Below, sections show workspace members and recent boards. The top bar includes the Marlee logo, an Invite button, notifications, and the user profile.

Here are a few things to keep in mind about motivations ❤️

  • Your motivations are not about being “good” or “bad.” They reflect what naturally energizes you at work.
  • High scores highlight what fires you up, while lower scores point to areas that may drain your energy over time.
  • Low scores do not mean you cannot do something. They simply indicate where you may need extra breaks, support, or structure.
  • When your work aligns with your natural motivations, it becomes easier to slip into a productive flow state.
  • It is all about finding your groove and playing to your strengths 💪🏼🚀
